Andrea Reynolds, author of
Jump-Start Your Creative Genius, has a knack of turning personal challenges into adventures. Sometime in the spring or summer (2022) she will launch her Money Smarts Tour, by criss-crossing the US in a van the size of an ambulance.

Reynolds, a US citizen, lived in Canada for most of her adult life, and because of a series of unfortunate circumstances, at 72 she has no retirement income or savings beyond a $400 a month pension. She is not eligible for Social Security benefits.

SUCCESS
Savvy in some ways, she paid for 6 years of college without grants, loans, or scholarships, but by working and playing the stock market, graduating with a cash surplus. Before the Internet existed, she raised $30,000 from private investors for a book publishing project. She has negotiated superior speaking contracts for other authors like Margaret Atwood. And she has no debt. But, in other ways she made big, self-defeating mistakes.

OPTIONS
She worries how she will survive beyond the next few months. Either she must a)
win a lottery, b) earn a big pile of money for the future, or c) sell everything including her condo for cash and become a "van lifer."

She's opting for
B (and possibly C) by launching her Money Smarts Newsletter - an audacious move considering she herself is in a (temporary) financial bind. Says Reynolds, "As a writer, I learn by researching, brainstorming, and list-making. I already have 60 article ideas for the newsletter. I will succeed only by helping others move from financial chaos to financial comfort. "
